A new year

Positive thoughts

As the year starts i am starting to panic. It is my third year and there is a lot i have to do, i need to grow academically. Our Lecturer keeps reminding us that we need to keep calm and learn as much as we can we can.

On the 1st of February i started my internship. Here i am thinking ,am i in the right place?do i have all the abilities needed to achieve the goals i have? I am nervous as i walk in the office.Everyone seems to know what they are doing.they looked professional.

The staff welcomed me with open arms.My main concern now is that i am in a political department and to be honest i do not know much about politics. So i need to start reading newspapers a lot more often than i used to. I am slowly finding my feet. Its not easy but it is so exciting to be in an environment that constantly keeping me on my toes.

change can be a way forward

members of the hockey team
The coaching staff are confident as the SA women's hockey team, in the beginning of a rebuilding phase, prepare to face hosts Ireland in the opening match of the Champions Challenge tournament.the team has been facing some difficulties when it comes to producing the scores they aimed for.

“We are trying to change our playing style – more direction, more explosive, emphasis on elimination skills,” said Gregory.
“A large proportion of the tactics in modern hockey have evolved. The game is built on speed and we want to bring pressure.
the team is now going to focus on the mistakes they have been making and try to sort that out. Gregory said that they not going to change their strategy just where it is needed.the previous tournament has taught them that they need to change some things in order for them to win, many teams are adapting to the new system of playing which seems to be working for most of the teams.

Head coach Giles Bonnet believed they were on the right track in trying to create a new brand for the national women's team.
“We are busy with the structures and the implementation, particularly defensive pressure, counters from this position, deep defence and out-letting,” Bonnet said. research has been done all they need to do now is focus on making the team better and working as hard as they can to achieve their gaols.

should college Athletes be paid

college atheletes doing what they know best
College athletes should get paid that is what most people are saying ,the reason being that they generate a lot of money for the college and the sponsors. Most people would strongly disagree with the statement because the athletes get schoolarships to go to varsity and persua a career while playing a certain sports.

reasons why college athletes should not be paid

  • Income generators-  One of the misperceptions of this subject is that all football and basketball programs are extremely profitable. Any football program is going to be expensive when you factor in facilities, equipment and travel.
  • Not enough- Spurrier is proposing that athletes should be given somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,500 to $4,000 per year.
The debate has been going for years now but there has not been a solution that benefits both the athletes and the college. Other students are being payed under the table while others do not get anythng at all. in a way this is corruption. when asked why some students get paid under the table response was "it is done to motivated them"

College is suppose to be a place where the students are taught not payed for their services. Most of the expenses the college pays for it example the kits and the only time these athletes use their own money is when they pay for transport but not always. students come up with ways to raise funds.

A risk worth taking

Frampton at one of his games

The 25-year-old will defend his Commonwealth and IBF inter-continental super bantamweight titles against the Canadian in front of his home crowd in Belfast on Saturday evening.Frampton feels that a game against Steve Molitor will increase the chances of him becoming the world champion, this will give him the recognition that he has been working so hard for. Frampton told the Sky Sport News that ''there definitely is a risk , but i am at the stage where i want to have big fights ''.

Steve Molitor a 32-year old has been in the industry for some time now, he has more experience in the field. He is rated number nine by Ring magazine. If  Frampton manages to win the game it will be such a great achievement for him also showing that he has grown as an individual.

Steve Molitor shared his view on the matter "IF i want to be a three time world champion then i have to beat this kid , I have been out of the ring enjoying my life for ten months and on Saturday night you will see a new hungry Steve Molitor.

Growth is very important in each career and taking risks is what most people have to do so that they get ahead. The results might not be what we have hoped for but the most important thing one can do is realise the mistakes that were made learn from them. This game most definitely wont be an easy one. As a fan i hope Frampton gets his shine because he has been working very hard to get where he is right now , he deserves to win.

An honest mistake can create bad publicity

a banner that has a spelling error

Red lion district sponsored a school with a soccer field and they put up their banner at the field. The sad part is that the banner had a spelling error instead of them saying ''Public'' they said ''Pubic'' ,this has created bad publicity for the organisation. Most peolpe were not even aware that there is such a company that is helping out the schools but because of this mistake they do.

Don Dimoff a marketing and communications manager of Red Lion said that "The mistake has put Red Lion on the map, it's in South-Central Pennyslvania ,in case you were wondering -and drew all kinds of unwanted attentionn from outside the community to the school's sponsorship efforts'' . The manager clearly has to do  some damage control to fix the problem.

In the article the manager said that the mistake was not made by them ,it was made by the sign company. this does not give him credibility because now his shifting the blame ,yes we understand that the sign company is somehow responsible for this mistake but as a manager he should have checked the final product before signing it out.

Red Lion has done a lot of good things for the community. The sad part is that general public will remember the organisation by this mistake. It is going to take them some time to erase this matter in people's minds.

A brand that makes millions each year

David beckham is making a name for himself

David beckham has been making a lot of business decisions that are working in his advantage in the past few years. He has been working on sponsorship deals that are worth millions. At London he made 13.3 million pounds on his sponsorship deals.

David is in his final years of his career yet he is making a life for himself out of soccer. It would really be an ispiration to see more soccer players do the same for themselves. Most of the players they don't have anything to fall back on after their career which sometimes is sad because they end up broke.

David had his share of bad publicity in the past few years yet he managed to change that and convinced companies to work with him. He is an Ambassador for a charity organisation called the UNICEF ,on a daily bases they provide children with wheelchairs. He helped raise $185, 500 for NSPPCC (national security for prevention of cruelty to children) this shows that he has interest for children. He is a role model for most of the kids who are interested in soccer.
David Beckham socializing
David has asthma but it did not stand in his way of taking risks and also trying new businesses ventures. He has his own of H&M underwear. David as a brand has achieved so many things in his career, with that said he still is working as hard to achieve even more greater things.

for the love of sports

South Korea's hgeon woo at the london olympics.
If you have passion for something in life you make sure that you do everything in your power to get it. At the London olympics we had the opportunity to see a lot of individuals facing hardships but staying strong in the game. For some they did not get what they have hoped for but at the end of the day they did their best. I am very proud of every individual who took part at the olympics, sports is what they live for. watching them celebrate their victory inspires me that nothing is impossible.

hgeon woo won a gold medal of men's 66kg Greco Roman wrestling at the excel venue on the 7th August 2012. It was not an easy task for him ,he got injured very badly. I believe every organisation goes through a rough patch once in a while. The trick is to know why you doing what you are doing. As individuals we tend  to forget along the way why we choose certains careers ,which sometimes results in lack of commitment. Public Relations Practitioners are often looked down, the are people who believe that what we do is not important. We have to work twice as hard to prove that our jobs are worthwhile.

Nordine was one of the participants who also got injured at the olympics but that did not stop him from getting what he wanted. It is amazing how when a person love what they are doing ,they just see only the good in their work not the bad. Being a sports person is very challenging like any other job. They train for months, sometimes they don''t even win or they get disqualified for some fault yet they keep coming back for more. I salute their hard work.
