A brand that makes millions each year

David beckham is making a name for himself

David beckham has been making a lot of business decisions that are working in his advantage in the past few years. He has been working on sponsorship deals that are worth millions. At London he made 13.3 million pounds on his sponsorship deals.

David is in his final years of his career yet he is making a life for himself out of soccer. It would really be an ispiration to see more soccer players do the same for themselves. Most of the players they don't have anything to fall back on after their career which sometimes is sad because they end up broke.

David had his share of bad publicity in the past few years yet he managed to change that and convinced companies to work with him. He is an Ambassador for a charity organisation called the UNICEF ,on a daily bases they provide children with wheelchairs. He helped raise $185, 500 for NSPPCC (national security for prevention of cruelty to children) this shows that he has interest for children. He is a role model for most of the kids who are interested in soccer.

David has asthma but it did not stand in his way of taking risks and also trying new businesses ventures. He has his own of H&M underwear. David as a brand has achieved so many things in his career, with that said he still is working as hard to achieve even more greater things.

for the love of sports

South Korea's hgeon woo at the london olympics.
If you have passion for something in life you make sure that you do everything in your power to get it. At the London olympics we had the opportunity to see a lot of individuals facing hardships but staying strong in the game. For some they did not get what they have hoped for but at the end of the day they did their best. I am very proud of every individual who took part at the olympics, sports is what they live for. watching them celebrate their victory inspires me that nothing is impossible.

hgeon woo won a gold medal of men's 66kg Greco Roman wrestling at the excel venue on the 7th August 2012. It was not an easy task for him ,he got injured very badly. I believe every organisation goes through a rough patch once in a while. The trick is to know why you doing what you are doing. As individuals we tend  to forget along the way why we choose certains careers ,which sometimes results in lack of commitment. Public Relations Practitioners are often looked down, the are people who believe that what we do is not important. We have to work twice as hard to prove that our jobs are worthwhile.

Nordine was one of the participants who also got injured at the olympics but that did not stop him from getting what he wanted. It is amazing how when a person love what they are doing ,they just see only the good in their work not the bad. Being a sports person is very challenging like any other job. They train for months, sometimes they don''t even win or they get disqualified for some fault yet they keep coming back for more. I salute their hard work.

Caught in action

is this acceptable

Caneron van der Burgh at the olympics
Cameron is a South African swimmer who won a gold medal at the olympics and we were all proud of him. As South africans we are  behind every participants who are currently taking part at the olympics.

It has been published in the media that Cameron did not win his gold medal fairly. During his game  he took extra underwater kicks which is not allowed and is illegal. When i heard this personally thought the media was accusing him of something he did not do. well i was wrong. Cameron told the Sydney Morning Herald that he did it,the reason being that everyone was doing it and if you don't do it you will be left behind. If the judges had seen this he would have been disqualified.

This behaviour is not acceptable. It makes him look uncredible which is not good for his reputation and worst of all for South Africa. This will question the ability of his caoches. We understand that he says everyone is doing it but the problem is they caught him not everybody else. there has to be concequences for his actions.   www.swimmingworldmagazine.com

As a fan i am really dissapointed in his actions. It is going to take some time for us understand why he did what he did. His excuses does not make sense. As a swimmer he should know better than do things that will get him disqualified. On the 7th of August on Metro fm his mom was interviewed by Thato she sounded very proud. She said that Cameron started swimming at the age of 10 to me this shows he really loves what his doing.maybe somehow there is a better explaination for his behaviour.

achieving the goal

competitors rowering at the olympics, source  (www.google.co.za )
In any sport the participants face challenges in achieving their goals. This can also happend in an organisation or our everyday life but the trick is to  know our objectives and do all we can do achieve them.

Rowers come across the following challenges in each game.

  • Their senses are not in control
  •  It becomes difficult to hear
  • Their vision goes out of synch
This usually happens at the end of the game said olympic legend Mattew Pinsent who retired after winning the last four gold medals for Great Britain at the  Anthens Games in 2004.It is inspiring to know that they work as a team. Rowers face difficulties at the end of a game but they stay focused. The reason being that they need to achieve their goal and sustain a good image for their team.

As public relations practitioners our job is to change perceptions about our organisations and sustain a good  image. It might not be easy to achieve our goals in our organisations but that does not mean we should give up. In any project we are working on we should expect certain challenges because these challenges help us to grow as an organisation , also finding ways to prevent them from happening in the future.
