Caneron van der Burgh at the olympics |
Cameron is a South African swimmer who won a gold medal at the olympics and we were all proud of him. As South africans we are behind every participants who are currently taking part at the olympics.
It has been published in the media that Cameron did not win his gold medal fairly. During his game he took extra underwater kicks which is not allowed and is illegal. When i heard this personally thought the media was accusing him of something he did not do. well i was wrong. Cameron told the Sydney Morning Herald that he did it,the reason being that everyone was doing it and if you don't do it you will be left behind. If the judges had seen this he would have been disqualified.
This behaviour is not acceptable. It makes him look uncredible which is not good for his reputation and worst of all for South Africa. This will question the ability of his caoches. We understand that he says everyone is doing it but the problem is they caught him not everybody else. there has to be concequences for his actions. www.swimmingworldmagazine.com
As a fan i am really dissapointed in his actions. It is going to take some time for us understand why he did what he did. His excuses does not make sense. As a swimmer he should know better than do things that will get him disqualified. On the 7th of August on Metro fm his mom was interviewed by Thato she sounded very proud. She said that Cameron started swimming at the age of 10 to me this shows he really loves what his doing.maybe somehow there is a better explaination for his behaviour.
He must be ashamed of embarassing himself this way and worst of all embarrasing the country. we are really doing bad in the olympics with only 4 medals and being number 18 in the moment, so we dont need any bad things that will contribute to us as a country having a bad name out there.sies....everyone is doing it, so why they were never cought????what a lame excuse
ReplyDeleteyes it is a lame excuse
DeleteBut if he says everyoned does it I don;t see any problem. It also meant that those who succeded before did the same thing and won medals.
ReplyDeleteso are you saying there should not be concequences to his actions because everyone else is doing it?the thing is they caught him
DeleteI have to say that I am very disappointed. I think he was just making an excuse by saying that very one did it the fact remains is that he did not win fairly he cheated and he did not deserve to win.
ReplyDeletei agree,we should not make excuses for him because his one of us.cheating is not acceptable
DeleteHow disappointing...a man we were all proud of, turned to be untrustworthy. I think he must face the consequences and may be loose the medal because we cannot promote cheating.
ReplyDeletethats so disappointing, while the whole country celebriting his win but he knows that his win wasn't proffessional. this can end up reining his image and even of south africa.
ReplyDeletethey are many tricks to kill a cat,but this one was not fair
ReplyDeletewhat he said is just like saying no comment to journalist he really should have said that as a public relation i think he just ruined his image by saying that because he knows that what he did is against the rules and to worst of all what is he teaching his fans that the should cheat if they see other people cheat
ReplyDeleteAtleast he had the decency to admit that he was wrong. Admitting that you are wrong worked on his PR, even though what he did was wrong
ReplyDeletesometimes you need to be very unique to be a winner... but if a rule say no, it means no, so i think he made a lame excuse
ReplyDeletebut everybody cheats it is a pity that he got caught
ReplyDeleteIts very disappointing to see someone cheating on the Olympics, especially that its one of the tournaments that involved almost the whole planet. If he says that others are doing it, I think he must mention those who have cheated before and provide evidence to show that he is certain of what he is talking about. Enough with that excuse, and too bad for our country, for such a scandalous behaviour, of one person. I suppose this has not only affected his reputation but for our country as well, since he's from South Africa
ReplyDeletenow thats disappointing hey.... but the truth shall set you free
