a banner that has a spelling error |
Red lion district sponsored a school with a soccer field and they put up their banner at the field. The sad part is that the banner had a spelling error instead of them saying ''Public'' they said ''Pubic'' ,this has created bad publicity for the organisation. Most peolpe were not even aware that there is such a company that is helping out the schools but because of this mistake they do.
Don Dimoff a marketing and communications manager of Red Lion said that "The mistake has put Red Lion on the map, it's in South-Central Pennyslvania ,in case you were wondering -and drew all kinds of unwanted attentionn from outside the community to the school's sponsorship efforts'' . The manager clearly has to do some damage control to fix the problem.
In the article the manager said that the mistake was not made by them ,it was made by the sign company. this does not give him credibility because now his shifting the blame ,yes we understand that the sign company is somehow responsible for this mistake but as a manager he should have checked the final product before signing it out.
Red Lion has done a lot of good things for the community. The sad part is that general public will remember the organisation by this mistake. It is going to take them some time to erase this matter in people's minds.

I would suggest that the next time Red lion decides to make public announcements on banners or even bill boards, that they proof read it first or they will have another incident like this one which will damage their name even more.
ReplyDeleteI think that the manager did the right thing by being honest at first with this mistake because if he did not be honest I am sure that in the long term this mistake was going to catch-up with their organisation.
ReplyDeletethis is why companies shoul wok together to avoid such issus and they must echeck thi wotk before they lase them. h managers also mad a mistak by blaming somone else while this was his job o mak sure that there were no mistaks
ReplyDeleteyes he that was wrong of him to shift the blame because at the end of the day he is responsible for the company
DeleteThey should make it their culture,to proof read before any publicity. For now it somehow appears as if they were rushing to put their brand out there. This may contradict against their community relations commitment
ReplyDeleteit might cause unwanted drama for their organisation
DeleteI think theu need to wash thier eyes, surely they did see that error but they decided to continue with the advertising.
